HOW TO
PARTY IN PLACE
Video Conference Platforms There are so many video conference platforms to use for your party. Here are our favorites: HouseParty, Zoom, Skype, FaceTime, and Google Hangouts. Once you settle on a date/time, don’t forget that the host should send out a calendar invite with party’s call-in details. 45 mins to an hour is an ideal amount of time for the party.
Smaller is Better Consider keeping your "party size" around 6-8 guests. Keeping the size more intimate will allow participants to clearly hear each other and contribute to the conversation.
Prepping Keep your background bright so that everyone participating can see you – turn up the lights or go outside with some daylight. You might consider shaking off the yoga attire and replacing it with a fun top. If a happy hour, pour yourself a glass of wine or mix your favorite cocktail. If wishing a happy birthday or to get well soon, consider blowing up some balloons or making a sign to display in the background.
Ready, Set, Go Start off with an ice breaker. Share what was the favorite part of your day, what you are having for dinner, or your favorite cocktail recipe. Try to keep the conversation light - we all need a little relief from the uncertainty of the world.
Plan for the Future At the end of the call, set up a time to Party in Place again. Not only will you have another party to look forward to, but it may just be the lifeline everyone needs.
We are all looking forward to partying IRL (in real life). Until then, we hope you all enjoy partying in place. Stay Safe, Friends!
